วัดพุทไธศวรรย์
วัดพุทไธศวรรย์ เป็นพระอารามหลวงตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาฝั่งตะวันตก ในตำบลสำเภาล่ม อำเภอพระนครศรีอยุธยา ในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา วัดพุทไธศวรรย์เป็นพระอารามหลวงที่ใหญ่โตและมีชื่อเสียงวัดหนึ่ง ปรากฏตามตำนานว่าสมเด็จพระรามาธิบดีที่ 1 (พระเจ้าอู่ทอง) ทรงสร้างขึ้นในบริเวณที่ซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งพลับพลาที่ประทับเมื่อทรงอพยพมาตั้งอยู่ก่อนสถาปนากรุงศรีอยุธยาเป็นราชธานี ที่ตรงนี้มีชื่อปรากฏในพระราชพงศาวดารว่า "ตำบลเวียงเล็ก หรือ เวียงเหล็ก" ครั้นเมื่อสถาปนากรุงศรีอยุธยาแล้ว ถึง พ.ศ. 1896 จึงโปรดให้สร้างวัดนี้ขึ้นเป็นพระราชอนุสรณ์ ณ ตำบลซึ่งพระองค์เสด็จมาตั้งมั่นอยู่แต่เดิม และพระมหากษัตริย์องค์ต่อ ๆ มาก็คงจะได้โปรดให้สร้างถาวรวัตถุ เพิ่มเติมขึ้นอีกหลายอย่าง เมื่อเสียกรุงฯ ในปี พ.ศ. 2310 วัดพุทไธศวรรย์เป็นอีกวัดหนึ่งที่มิได้ถูกข้าศึกทำลายเหมือนวัดอื่น ๆ ทุกวันนี้จึงยังมีโบราณสถานไว้ชมอีกมากมาย
ภายในวัดพุทไธศวรรย์ประกอบด้วย ปรางค์ประธานองค์ใหญ่ศิลปะแบบขอม ตั้งอยู่กึ่งกลางอาณาเขตพุทธาวาสบนฐานไพที ซึ่งมีลักษณะย่อเหลี่ยมมีบันไดขึ้น 2 ทาง คือ ทางทิศตะวันออก และทางทิศตะวันตก ส่วนทิศเหนือทิศใต้มีมณฑปสองหลังภายในพระมณฑปมีพระประธาน พระตำหนักสมเด็จพระพุทธโฆษาจารย์ สมเด็จพระพุทธโฆษาจารย์เป็นพระเถระชั้นผู้ใหญ่ประจำอยู่ในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา ตำหนักนี้อยู่ในสภาพค่อนข้างทรุดโทรมแต่ภายในผนังของตำหนัก มีภาพสีเกี่ยวกับเรื่องหมู่เทวดา นักพรต นมัสการพระพุทธบาท และเรือสำเภาตอนพระพุทธโฆสะไปลังกา ภาพเหล่านี้อยู่ในสภาพไม่ชัดเจนนัก นอกจากนี้ยังมีพระอุโบสถอยู่ทางด้านทิศตะวันตกของปรางค์ หมู่พระเจดีย์สิบสององค์ วิหารพระนอน และตำหนักท้าวจตุคามรามเทพ
