กรุงศรีอยุธยา อาณาจักรที่ยิ่งใหญ่ของไทย [3] วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ์
วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ์
วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ์ หรือ วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ เป็นอดีตวัดหลวงประจำพระราชวังโบราณ อยุธยา ตั้งอยู่ที่ตำบลประตูชัย อำเภอพระนครศรีอยุธยา จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา ทางทิศเหนือของวิหารพระมงคลบพิตรในเขตอุทยานประวัติศาสตร์พระนครศรีอยุธยา สร้างขึ้นราวปี พ.ศ. 2035 โดยสมเด็จพระรามาธิบดีที่ 2
วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ์ มีจุดที่น่าสนใจที่สำคัญคือเจดีย์ทรงลังกา จำนวนสามองค์ที่วางตัวเรียงยาวตลอดทิศตะวันออกและทิศตะวันตก สร้างขึ้นเป็นองค์แรกทางฝั่งตะวันออก เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2035 โดยสมเด็จพระรามาธิบดีที่ 2 เพื่อบรรจุพระบรมอัฐิของสมเด็จพระบรมไตรโลกนาถ (พระราชบิดา) ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2042 ก็ทรงให้สร้างเจดีย์องค์ต่อมา (องค์กลาง) ของสมเด็จพระบรมราชาธิราชที่ 3 (พระเชษฐาต่างพระมารดาของสมเด็จพระรามาธิบดีที่ 2)และในรัชสมัยสมเด็จพระบรมราชาธิราชที่ 4 ก็ทรงสร้างเจดีย์อีกองค์ในฝั่งทิศตะวันตกให้ สมเด็จพระรามาธิบดีที่ 2 (พระราชบิดาของสมเด็จพระบรมราชาธิราชที่ 4 (พระหน่อพุทธางกูร)) รวมเป็นสามองค์ตามปัจจุบัน
วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ์ เป็นวัดประจำวังที่ไม่มีพระสงฆ์จำพรรษา จึงกลายเป็นต้นแบบของ วัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม ในพระบรมมหาราชวัง ที่ไม่มีพระสงฆ์จำพรรษา ในเวลาต่อมา
