พระปรางค์สามยอด จังหวัดลพบุรี เป็นโบราณสถานและ แหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางประวัติศาสตร์และโบราณคดีที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของจังหวัดลพบุรี ลักษณะเป็นปราสาทขอมในศิลปะบายน (พ.ศ. 1720 – 1773) โครงสร้างเป็นศิลาแลงประดับปูนปั้น สร้างขึ้นในรัชสมัยพระเจ้าชัยวรมันที่ 7 (ครองราชย์ พ.ศ. 1724 – 1757) เพื่อเป็นพุทธสถานในลัทธิวัชรยานประจำเมืองละโว้หรือลพบุรี ซึ่งในขณะนั้นเป็นเมืองลูกหลวงของอาณาจักรเขมร
พระปรางค์สามยอด ตั้งอยู่บนเนินดินด้านตะวันตกของทางรถไฟ ใกล้กับศาลพระกาฬ เป็นปราสาทศิลาแลงแบบขอมเรียงต่อกัน 3 องค์ เชื่อมต่อกันด้วยมุขกระสัน ภายในบริเวณนอกจากปราสาททั้ง 3 องค์นี้แล้ว ทางด้านทิศตะวันออกของปราสาทประธาน มีการต่อเติมวิหารก่ออิฐถือปูนเชื่อมต่อกับปราสาทประธาน เพื่อประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปในรัชสมัยสมเด็จพระนารายณ์มหาราช (ครองราชย์ พ.ศ. 2199 – 2231)
ลักษณะทางสถาปัตยกรรม
เป็นปราสาทขอม 3 องค์ เชื่อมต่อกันด้วยมุขกระสัน (อันตรละ) โดยวางตัวในแนวเหนือ-ใต้ หันหน้าสู่ทิศตะวันออก ปราสาทประธานมีความสูงใหญ่กว่าอีก 2 องค์ โครงสร้างของปราสาททำจากศิลาแลงฉาบปูน มีการประดับประดาตามส่วนต่าง ๆ ของปราสาทด้วยปูนปั้น อันเป็นลักษณะของงานสถาปัตยกรรมในยุคของพระเจ้าชัยวรมันที่ 7 ที่นิยมใช้ศิลาแลงเป็นวัสดุในการก่อสร้าง เช่น ปรางค์พรหมทัตที่ปราสาทพิมาย จังหวัดนครราชสีมา ซึ่งประดิษฐานพระรูปของพระเจ้าชัยวรมันที่ 7, ปราสาทวัดกำแพงแลง จังหวัดเพชรบุรี ที่สร้างเป็นปราสาทศิลาแลง 3 องค์เรียงกันในลักษณะเดียวกับพระปรางค์สามยอด, และปรางค์องค์กลางของวัดพระพายหลวง จังหวัดสุโขทัย เป็นต้น
